Mrs JD headed off to stay with her parents for a couple of days, doing the baby thing. Iíd been in touch with friends and it was good timing, I could have them stay over while she was away. So Friday and Saturday were spent talking and quaffing with a couple old friends, in a den of iniquity and, erm, my lounge in front of the Gamecube and PS2. The calling of the geek is strong Luke, you cannot resist. It was good, really, despite the rest of this I did enjoy myself, it was like 1992 all over again; but with the weight of an additional twelve years of life.
I have learned to hate change, through various experiences in my life. When you see friends that you haven’t seen for a while it reinforces that dislocation from how you think things should be; but they are not.
Getting over that particular peccadillo is never straightforward, at least for me as I spend to much time thinking things through. It’s possible though, if you’re willing.
I had to set aside the inner rants of ‘fix it, fix it, fix it’, ‘why were you not there for them?’ and ‘why were they not there for you?’ Those nags don’t help as you talk over the past years events that we’d all been through; and boy had we all been through the mill in one way or another.
Perhaps it’s our age, we’re all about 30 now, but life really bites you in the ass when you hit 27-30. No clue why but it has happened to a lot of people I know.
That gives all the younger readers something to look forward to I guess ;) Hereís to holding on Ö
