NewsForge | Analysis: Microsoft, SCO have a lot more explaining to do
Iíve been an avid follower of the SCO vs Opensource and IBM/Novell/Redhat/Chrysler and whoever else is getting sued by them or suing them in turn. The list is getting as long a piece of string; ah, definition
It has been the geek soap opera of the century, Slashdot and Groklaw have had great commentary on the strange business model that SCO has adopted; ëDonít innovate, sue!í
The latest turns of the last week have been more amazing than Bobby in the shower, the rumours that Microsoft was funding SCO seem to have been, proven correct. Neither company has denied the email, SCO outright confirmed it.
Microsoft seems to have paid SCO an estimated 86 million US Dollars - or just under 1% of its slush fund - enabling SCO to wage IP/Copyright/Contract war on the open source world.
Now the monolithic SEC seems to have woken up and smelt the SCO, interesting times may be ahead for SCO and Microsoft, if the link is proved by SEC this would be the biggest legal hurdle Microsoft has ever faced.
