Week 36 Scan

September 6th, 2004 · No Comments

Everytime I deal with the NHS I come away feeling let down and normally very annoyed. Even today, when we had good news, I came away wishing I had a sythe.

Mrs JD needed a scan as the baby is looking like it is huge. We arrived at the new unit, opened last Saturday, and had a very prefunctory scan. The Stenographer didn’t give us any clue what she was doing and showed Mrs JD the baby for 30 secs, tops. The only good thing from this is we had conformation that the baby is definatly a girl.

Ushered out we then had an appointment with a midwife who I dislike as she’s, not to beat around the bush, crap. So I wasn’t a happy bunny come lunchtime, and I expected to have a major argument come the afternoon appointment.

The second appointment went really well though, we got to see a midwife we like and respect, and asked her to do the birth. Which she seemed really happy to do. We also go to see the consultant who stated that although the baby is big it shouldn’t automatically stop a natural birth; and that everything seems to be going well.

Dealing with the NHS is never easy, but this wasn’t such a bad day.
