Comparison of Unwanted Software Installed by P2P Programs
If you use Peer to Peer software then you should read this.
Though if you are lazy and would like a short summery I will provide this for you:
P2P programs install some or all of the following; spyware, adware, toolbars and they monitor and log which interent sites you visit.
The only P2P program that comes out clean is Limewire – available for a few formats, including Windows and Macintosh.
Go Limewire.

bittorrent is too hot right now, the feds will be on your ass before you can grab your tommy gun and spray a few hot charlies into their 2 by 4’s.

Read the article, your assumptions are all wrong. It only applies to the apps this guy tested, and they are all Windows based – he states the testing was all done on XP.
I guess my summery was too simple for the uber lazy.
Limewire once sucked, it is now the best of the traditional P2P applications. I prefer Bittorrent personally, but if you want traditional P2P Limewire is the way to go.

are you sure that osx p2p apps like acqlite and poisoned install additional software? i don’t think so. you should probably edit your story highlighting that this does not apply to osx users. oh and imo, limewire is crap.
