I Dig You
My parents came over today, roped in to do some gardening with us. Well, with me, my wife doesn’t garden and Robyn’s to young to hold a spade.
We have to do the house up ready to sell it, this includes the garden. Another step towards the eventual hop over to Canada. As the garden had consisted of mud and a single tree we thought we would start on that. We’ve dug borders and moved the tree, now it really looks like a garden – aside from the lack of grass. Next we have to lay turf, that is when we can afford to buy it.
I haven’t worked so hard in a long time, seriously. As a geek I take excersize when I have to so I’ve become somewhat unfit. My dad is the outdoor kind of guy, he may be twice my age but he is built solid and as we dug the border, shockingly, I had to work damn hard to keep up with him. Talk about a wake up call, I have to get healthier.
Gritting my teeth I dug like my life depended on it, when in fact it was just my pride and stubborness forcing me on. By the end I could wring out my T-Shirt, it was that wet with sweat. Tomorrow I won’t be able to move, I just know it.
