Formula One Struggles in NASCAR Land
F1 shot itself in the foot at the weekend, it’s controlled by too few people who treat it like they own it and have no responsibility to anyone else. It’s a sport, you muppets don’t own it, you just have the rights for a short while.
It’s looking more and more likely that the split will happen and two F1 competitions will form. 2008 will be the crunch time.
That said some of the reactions have been funny. Take a look at this:
LA Times: “This public relations pratfall served to underscore the differences between Formula One and wildly popular NASCAR.”
NASCAR ‘Wildly Popular’ in comparison to F1?! Is America really that insular? F1 is the most popular annual sport in the world, beaten only by the Olympics and the Football World Cup. NASCAR on the other hand … yeah, exactly.
