I intend to make two backups of my data on a regular schedule - one copy resides on my PowerBook, then this backs up to my iPod and my external HDD.
One solution is iPodBackup - it drops your Home folder to your iPod. I’d like one solution that can do both so I’m still investigating this.
iPodBackup - Automatic backups to an iPod on Mac OS X
RSyncX is something I’ve blogged about before.
Another solution might be www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/docs.html
A solution that others have found:
www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2005/07/22/backup.html which has evolved into the following:
www.betalogue.com/2005/08/18/more-on-automated-backups-with-tiger-using-rsync/
OK, when I have time I need to install RsyncX, script it to back up to my Ext HDD and iPod (failing gracefully if not present). Then include this in an automated (automater?) script that mounts encrypted Disk images, does the sync, closes the disk images.
No idea when I’ll get to this one.

[...] Shelling out a fortune on shareware isn’t the answer. Looks like I really will have to get my own solution sorted out. I blogged about backups last here. [...]
