The Power of Myth

August 15th, 2005 · No Comments

Just listened through the PBS ‘Power of Myth’ on my iPod, conversations with Joseph Campbell. Interesting stuff, though I didn’t always agree with his beliefs this is a must for anyone interested in myths - regardless of the myth genre.

These conversations touch on them all, christian, first nation, Greek and Indian to name just a random selection. Topics include power, love and symbols.

Aside from Hero with a Thousand Faces - which is one of the DEFAULT books all writers should have (which, despite owning, I still haven’t read) - this is the first of Campbell’s work I gone through.

I have no doubt that I’ll listen to this again.

The DVD:
Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth with Bill Moyers [2 Discs] (REGION 1) (NTSC)

The Books:
The Power of Myth

The Hero with a Thousand Faces (Paladin Books)
