Google as Big Brother

With the volume of data that Google no holds on you should Google be watched closely? The rising opinion is yes.

Sites like google-watch.org are gaining notice fast. In an interview with Fortune magazine this spring, even Bill Gates sees the similarities “Google is more like us than anyone else.” – www.fuckedgoogle.com/my_weblog/.

Or of course you have the net cynics of MeFi, www.metafilter.com/mefi/44852. Or the ranting of O’Reilly, www.oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/4707. Parodies still exist, Google hasn’t become insanely litigious yet, www.doogle.org/.

Personally I fall between both camps. Google hasn’t turned to the dark site, but it isn’t whiter than white either. Watch Google, but drop the hysterics.
