StarForce threatens to sue Cory at BoingBoing

January 31st, 2006 · No Comments

Starforce is an irritating piece of DRM that a LOT of gamers think is causing system instability. Personally I don’t want drivers secretly installing on my system, that don’t remove when I uninstall the game.

I’ve not purchased Track Mania due to Starforce protection, I won’t buy anything with root privlidge DRM on it. This has been a big issue in game-land for ages. Yesterday Corey at BoingBoing brought the issue to a wider audience - and instantly recieved a threat from Starforce.

“… calling StarForce “Anti-copying malware” is a good enough cause to press charges and that is what our corporate lawyer is busy doing right now.”

Sleazy software, sleazy lawyers. Boycott all starforce protected games, and let the companies know why you won’t buy there products.

I hope they sue and lose and draw all sorts of negative attention on themselves for such shitty DRM practices and go out of business.
