MacBook Pro battery - 2 hours 51 mins

February 22nd, 2006 · No Comments

It looks like the MacBook Pro has a similar battery life to the old PPC 15 inch PowerBooks. Despite the battery size increase.

Powerpage.org has the first testing up on the life of the new Apple workhorse and in a ‘real world’ scenerio it lasted just short of 3 hours, 2.51.

I was hoping for much longer, of course, and find such a short battery life somewhat dissapointing.

- Energy Saver > Optimization > Normal
- Screen brightness: 8 bars out of 16 (50%)
- Energy Saver > Sleep:
- Put computer to sleep when inactive - 10 mins
- Put the display to sleep when inactive - 10 mins
- Put the hard disk to sleep when possible - Checked
- Energy Saver > Options:
- Automatically reduce brightness - Checked (two places)
- Airport/WiFi - On
- Bluetooth - On

Test 2 Results:
MacBook Pro (2.0GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB HDD):
- Battery warning: 2 hours, 43 minutes
- Involuntary sleep: 2 hours, 51 minutes
