Dutch court upholds Creative Commons licence

March 23rd, 2006 · No Comments

The Creative Commons Licence has been upheld in the Dutch court, making the licence very strong across the whole of Europe. This is good news, and not only because I use CC for this and my other sites.

The Registers coverage is mildly positive as well, though that site is utterly schitzophrenic when it comes to openess on the internet. Liking CC, hating the EFF and Wikipedia. Sometimes liking, but generally hating Linux, it’s equally split on the Mac too.

A Dutch Court has ruled that photos posted onto photo-sharing site Flickr under a Creative Commons licence should not have been reproduced by a gossip magazine without the permission of the poster.
