Today our baby learned another new word.
Our outdoor cat often brings presents for us. Voles, moles, rabbits, birds and mice. Sometimes live, sometimes dead. Today’s was a live mouse.
My wife was in the kitchen feeding our baby daughter when the mouse decided to show itself. We’re used to this now so she reached for a towel to grab the mouse with. She once picked up a vole by hand only to have it sink its teeth into her finger. It was still hanging from her hand when I arrived from two floors above.
The race was on to catch this mouse, as she lunged it reached the cupboards and shot underneath them to safety.
‘Ah bugger.’ Said my wife. Only then did she realise what she’d said. She turned to see our daughter beaming with happiness at the mouse chase and her new word.
‘Bugger!’ She yelled.
