ForbiddenPlanet try podcasting and fail

June 29th, 2006 · 2 Comments

Well this is a lesson on how not to do a podcast.

Step one make a big announcement about your podcast, then fail to deliver
Step two release your podcast in Windows Media format (really WTF were you thinking)
Step three realise this needs to be in mp3 format but don’t allow subscriptions

I like forbidden planet and I’ve spent quite a chunk of cash there over the years but really guys, when you decide to go into podcasting look at what’s working first. Reasearch first, release second.

When they get their act together go back and visit them, this could be good but right now it isn’t worth the effort.

Many thanks for your comments on our podcast, its always helpful to find out more information as we are feeling our way into new territory. RSS feeds and MP3’s have now been added, but please bear in mind that these podcasts are recorded alongside running one of the largest merchandise stores in the world.

Thanks for letting us know, now that mp3s are available your podcast should be much more accessable, especially to us Apple users. I can imagine that getting things set up in a large firm like Forbidden Planet - one with little IT knowledge - can be problematic.

Next time hire those IT professionals. Time to check out the podcast though, I’ll write about the casts in a few days.
