Firstly I suggest you read my post on Bookmarking, it will make your browsing a little faster and more efficient.
Then read about the copy link text Firefox extension that makes linking faster, expecially for weblog writers who use a lot of links daily.
Now I’ll offer you a tip on how to weed out bad posts while speeding your post volume. Yes these are basics, but we don’t always follow the basics do we. How many of you have up to date backups? Exactly.
Have an ‘Add to WordPress’ button on your browsers toolbar. If you don’t use WordPress I’m sure your blogging tool will have the equivalent, if not then consider WordPress. Open your WordPress Admin page, click Write, scroll to the bottom and drag or right click the Press It - Your Blog Name link. Once your send to blog quicklink button is in your browser toolbar right click it and select properties and under name call is something short and pithy. See example below:

I have two blogs that I update, CRB and CCB are pretty short and pithy buttons. I hate wasting space on that toolbar, OK.
Open your primary sites in tabs, I’ll assume that now you have a lot of tabs open. When you find something interesting highlight the text you want to quote or make note of and hit your send to blog button, then in your blog admin page press Save - at least that’s what the button is in WordPress, do whatever it is you need to do to save your post without publishing it on your weblog tool.
Then move on, close that tab if you wish. After you have gone through all your tabs you probably have a list of posts queued up in your blog. If you don’t you’re not reading sites that interest you enough. Now that you are not distracted by your blog reading carnival you can spend time in your writing state of mind without feeling the need to move on.
Go through your list, read the snippets of text and throw out those posts that on reflection aren’t interesting enough or don’t really apply to your blog and expand those that you think are still good.
The fast queue of interesting posts and the dedicated time you have in your writing space both speed up getting decent posts out into the lazyweb. A very fast weed n feed.

[...] I’ve been using my own system of ripping through sites and doing a fast save to WordPress and moving on. Allowing me to skim through posts and do a later Weed and Feed. It’s working great as I have a nice queue of interesting posts building up. If I ever go away for a week or two or twelve I’ve more than enough content to fill the gaps. [...]
