On Friday I finished Cornelia Funke’s The Thief Lord. Yeah I know that it’s a young adult book, like the Harry Potter series, but I really liked Inkheart and Inkspell so wanted to get through the rest of Funke’s writing.
Her writing is slow, descriptive and charecter driven, everything takes a long time to build up in all of her work and this is no exception. If you like the charecters then you’ll like the book. I did but much less so than Inkheart. The magic and inventivness of her later work hasn’t quite come out in this.
It’s still a great kids adventure story and I do recommend you read it. Funke creates such good charecters, readers and other writers will get a lot out of this. After I started I learned this is also a movie now, I don’t think it’s out here yet though I could be wrong. I don’t exactly follow release schedules on movies. I’ll see the movie as soon as I can get it.

it’s an awesum book!! i thought it was great!! i’ve just started reading inkheart and inkspell by cornelia funke and they’re great also!! u should read them1!
