The best example of old cartoons is Popeye. Yes, stay with me here as the original Popeye is different from any of the modern ones you might have seen.*
I’ve three different Popeye DVDs (2 sets) and neither contains all the old Popeye cartoons. The one featuring a building site for example.
Don’t bother with any Popeye cartoon from 1941 onwards, the only ones that count are the original Max Fleischer ones.

Two of the big - as in successful and long at 16 minutes each - colour cartoons are online at the Archive. All of the old Popeye is not in the public domain and is available copyright free. You can download Alibaba’s 40 Thieves here and Sinbad here. The third is Aladdin which for some reason isn’t yet in the archive. More are available though.
More on the early Popeye cartoons on calmapro.com.
*The early strip version of Popeye was different again, even better than any of the cartoons. The later strips had lost some of the original violence and bite - a neutered Popeye.
