This morning I did an install of Kubuntu. It refuses to work in my RAID configuration so I had to drop the HDD to IDE Master, it will have killed Windows OFC. Then Kubuntu popped into life and streaked across my desktop. Mmm, snappy.
I do all my work on the Mac, Kubuntu is a trial as I prefer KDE and like Ubuntu. Would be nice to be a Mac/Linux setup but Windows holds the gaming market in a strangle hold.
The drawback is Konqueror. Not in and of itself, it just gave me bad news. Konq and Safari render CR incorrectly now work OK; not a surprise that is both of them as they use the same web render engine. Strange colours and underlines abound. This is bad news, and it shows how often I use Safari as I hadn’t noticed before.
The theme I use is KPP Light, I’ve done a quick test with a default KPP Light install and that was OK. So it’s something I’ve done. Damn.
I’ll get to fixing it either today or tomorrow. It’s now fixed and CR displays just fine in Safari and Konq. No clue about IE though as I don’t have an IE to test it on.

I\’ll have a mooch and see. TBH installing Kubuntu has made me have a techie day and I\’ve fixed a massive volume of errors and problems on CR and done a big tidy across my HDDs. Funny how one techie thing makes you do a whole bunch of extra work. Usually while I\’m waiting for one computer to finish a task I\’m sorting out the other one.
CR should be massively faster now.

KDE is my window manager of choice too and with all the buzz Ubuntu has been getting recently I’ve been tempted to give Kubuntu a whirl.
Until I do i’ll stick to Mandriva [which is excellent bar the confusing default inclusion of the beyond-buggy kat]
I’m not going to go into a huge software list/rant but incase you havent seen this yet give Yakuake [ http://yakuake.uv.ro ] a shot its the first app i setup when I do a fresh install.
