Microsoft fined 1.42 Billion USD for abuse

July 5th, 2006 · No Comments

The EU has (unofficially) found Microsoft guilty of anti-trust practices in the EU and fined them for not complying with the EU ruling given in December 2004. The fine is 2.51 million USD per day. Backdated.

So then, 2.51 million USD per day back to December 2004. That covers 567 days, 567 * 2510000 = 1423170000 USD or 1.42 billion USD.

Even for a company like Microsoft 1.42 billion isn’t small change, they’ll feel that one.
