Take the best supercar in the world, the Ferrari Enzo, and do a full custom enhancement. Now that takes money. The outcome though is one great looking supercar, a homage to old Ferrari design sat on the very latest Ferrari frame. I’m not sure you’ll ever see this driving around very often though, imagine the insurance on a unique three million dollar car. You would want to look after this car very carefully.

Pininfarina has released some new images of the custom Ferrari P 4/5 it created for car collector James Glickenhaus. Valued at over $3 million, the vehicle was inspired by the P4 racer of the 1960s. Essentially, the P4/5 is a rebodied Ferrari Enzo, with a Pininfarina-designed and engineered exterior. Among the new images are photos of the development process.
Even more interesting is the comments on this post, James Glickenhaus - the cars owner - answers some questions on the design:
If you look at the photo of the car in the wind tunnel with the smoke you will understand why we put the exhaust there. Like on modern F1 cars they help with aerodynamics by filling in the air flow. The areo on this car allows it to reach very high speeds and helps make it the fastest Street legal Ferrari ever built.
…
The car was designed by Pininfarina who started with my desire to have something that looked like one of my cars, 1967 Ferrari P 3/4 0846, built on Ferrari’s most modern supercar chassis and evolved into a homage to the P 3/4,512s, 312p, and 333sp.
…
The exhaust is ceramic coated. We really tried to make this a fully usable/drivable car and when I first drove her I was really delighted. She’s stable, and the extra tire size really keeps her planted as does the more balanced air flow and higher downforce.Due to the lower weight and better aerodynamics we’re
looking at 1-100Kph in Very close to 3 seconds and a top speed of 240mph+Top Gear has seen the car and we will have press at our high speed testing in September. (Interested Press should contact Pininfarina)
…
The exhaust system works this way. At low rpm the exhaust comes out the bottom into the diffusers. It’s quiet for in town and won’t cook pedestrians who get to close. At 3000 rpm the exhaust shunts to the top pipes and when that happens a noise that you will not soon forget come out.

James you are one lucky man.

I don’t like the look, that car desperately needs to escape the 80’s. I would say that 3 million dollars is a lot of money to make a car ugly.
